Oh No, We Got Some Foes: the Enemy Blog #1

Ho, weary traveler! Watch your step, for there are beasts about!

…Wait, you didn’t see them? You saw NONE of them?! Dude, you had to have passed by… at least one. One had holes in it. He would’ve been obvious.

Okay, well, since you’re here unscathed, I guess I should tell you a little about the terrors that… terrorize this Abandoned Factory. You know, because you’re not gonna get lucky twice, right?

The Kolo

Do you see all the holes in the Kolo? Peer inside them and you may see something you would not wish to.

Just kidding, this thing will end your life before you have the chance to.

Not much is known about the origins of the Kolo. Their otherworldly nature inspires many a legend, but none in Zakumbaland are certain of their genesis or their purpose. It further inspires confusion from its seemingly docile nature, as this is just a front; the Kolo is a vicious hunter that is incredibly difficult to shake. Its screams are able to disorientate anyone in an area around it, and its body is completely malleable, turning its limbs into weapons. Why they take the shape they do is, too, a mystery.

Stay on your toes when facing the Kolo, as it’s fast and dangerous, and likely to catch you off guard.

The Foof

Now, on the entirely opposite end of the Kolo, the Foof.

In the past, the unique properties of the Foof’s hairs made them very popular with poachers, to the point where they were once endangered. Because of this treatment, though, the Foofs developed a keen awareness of its surroundings, and a natural response utilizing the defensive capabilities of their hairs for themselves.

When one gets close to a Foof, its hairs turn to spikes that suddenly jut out, piercing anything nearby. As such, when dealing with Foofs, be sure to watch their movements closely.

Also, Astraia loves these things. For her own sake, you should probably keep her away from them.

The Worker Golem

In Zakumbaland, a golem can only function with a rune core embedded into it. These cores are then programmed with one specific action that a golem can perform. The golem will follow its duties until complete, or until its main core is destroyed or defaced. If the latter occurs, then a “triggering” takes place, and the golem goes on a rampage. This is the current state of the golems around the abandoned factory. Hundreds of years with no upkeep has caused them to run mad.

This model of worker golem was meant to crush rocks and force open particularly protected passageways for the miners. Unfortunately, this means it’s very effective at crushing Astraias. Much like its massive, meaty hands would suggest, this golem does its best fighting up close.

Its main method of attack is to slam its hands directly in front of it. Its other method is its spin attack, where it swings its arms in a circle around itself. They definitely hurt, but don’t reach very far, so try to keep a distance around this mechanical marvel!

Apparently, there are other types of golems roaming around the factory as well. Will you run into them later on? Maybe. I haven’t looked at the potential enemy documents yet.

This is, like, maybe half of the enemies prowling around. I imagine you’ll spend the night, so make yourself comfy for the rest next week.
